Description: The itinerary starts from the old town of  Gambassi Terme and descends along the Via Francigena, passing Riparotta Castle,mentioned in the 12th century, and the Torre, an antique farmhouse near the bridge over Rio dei Casciani. The road continues as far as the village of Luiano di Sotto, where it meets the road that led to Volterra. After the bridge
“Ponte della Madonna”, we enter the district of San Gimignano. Along the stretch that runs through the Sienese Val d’Elsa, we see the ruins of Montecarulli Castle and the little Church of Saint Peter, mentioned in the 12th century. Further on, we pass the Sanctuary of Pancole and the ancient fortified village of Collemuccioli, with its characteristic tower. Immediately after comes the Parish Church of Sant'Ilario a Cellole. Proceeding, we come to San
Gimignano, one of the most popular destinations in Tuscany, which appears exactly as it was built in the Middle Ages. Stop for water in Pancole. Norefreshment point along the way
